The focus was to create privacy between units on this long and thin lot. By using the natural slope, the upper unit can look over the lower unit to capture the East Vail waterfalls while creating visual privacy between units. The upper unit uses high window to take advantage of the dramatic cliff views while maintaining personal space and privacy. The exterior material selections were based on performance, durability, and aesthetics. The owners wanted exterior materials that would blend into the environment but also minimize the exterior maintenance so they could maximize their time enjoying Colorado.
